These indexes are for crown land grants only, not for any land that was purchased.  They cover the period from approximately 1840 to 1870, but the original land grant petition requesting a grant could have taken place 10 to 20 years prior to the granting of the lands.   The transcribed lists have been sorted alphabetically to facilitate searching, although the original indexes were listed chronologically by date and number of grant.   To provide a benchmark of the indexes, an indication of timeframe follows:  Book A, Grant No. 4639, dated 1856; and Book F has dates circa 1867.
