Methodist minister. His wife was Annie Lockhart. He is believed to have
served at a church in the North Sydney area. I do not know when he may
have arrived, or how long he may have stayed in Cape Breton. He possibly
went on to Yarmouth. By the early 1930's, he was at Barrington, NS. He
died in Massachusetts in the late 1930's. One child of his was possibly a
Frank W. Hickey born circa 1879 at North Sydney. He may have had at least
two other children - D. Harold and Florence, birth-dates and places
unknown. Florence had a child circa 1900, so she may have been born ca.
1875 or so.
I would like to make contact with anyone who might have some information

churches in the Sydney/North Sydney area where David Hickey might have
served as minister.

following people. Any help would be appreciated.
Great Great grandparents were George Burchell b. 1/6/1828 and Mary Ann
Oram from Sydney Mines. They were married 3/17/1851. Their children
were William (my great grandfather) b. 9/17/1853, Franklin b. 1855, John
b. 2/16/1857, Susan b. 7/3/1858 d. 1/18/1862, Peter b. 9/6/1860 d.
3/17/1851, and Susan II b. 7/17/1862. George died 3/22/1864. All this
information was written in famly Bible at appropriate times. My great
grandfather married Janet Hunter Caldwell (daughter of Allan Caldwell and
Martha Anderson, also of Sydney Mines)in Boston and they lived their all
their lives. They had two children, my grandfather George Allan Burchell
and a daughter Edith Caldwell Burchell Goodwin.
I have a letter written by Allan Caldwell to William Burchell in 1889
saying that he sees George Oram every day. I am assuming this is Mary
Ann's father or brother.
Does anyone know how this Burchell family connects with other Burchells
in the area?

Qrytext: I'm searching for information regarding my biological
grandmother. I know very little about her. Her name is Margaret Morrison
and she was born in Cape Breton Island. At some point she came to
Massachusetts, and had a son(my father) at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on
March 30, 1916. The father was listed on the birth certificate as Ralph
Smith, a farmer in Saugus, Massachusetts. The son, my father, was raised
in Saugus, Massachusetts by Fred Corson on Vine Street. My father's
name was Paul Corson. On his birth certificate he was listed as Baby
Smith. There is a picture of my father, as a very small boy, with
Margaret Morrison. So, she was with him for at least a little while after
his birth. But, then there is no other information. She may have
died(although no death record could be found for her in Massachusetts),
or have left him for some reason and gone back to Cape Breton. This is a
shot in the dark, but I'm hoping someone, somewhere, may know
something about this story, or have some information. Since my father was
born in 1916, Margaret may have been born around the turn of the century,
or earlier. Saugus, the town which is listed as the father's
residence, is just North of Boston, and next to Lynn, Massachusetts.
Thanks to anyone who knows anything about this,
Sincerely, Marilyn Cleveland

Qrytext: Hello,
I'm seeking family information on my grandfather and grandmother both
came to the United States from
Mabou, NS Canada.
My grandfather (John Daniel Campbell) was born in Nova Scotia in 1872
(Catholic). My grandmother (Amanda Beaton) was also born in Nova Scotia
in 1877. (Catholic)
The both immigrated to the Noank, Conn. area, where they were married. My
grandfather built whaling ships, in Mystic, Conn., His brother Allen also
move to Noank Conn. and became a ship captain.
I know my grandfather had 4 brothers: Allen, Rodney, Angus, and Charles
and may have had sisters: Tina Mac Donald, Kate Bates, Mame De Veroux?
and an adopted brother Larry?
I was told his father was injured in a sea accident and lost the use of
his legs, he became a school teacher in Nova Scotia. My father told me
they were from the Mabou. But it could of been from around that area
because he also mentioned the Brass D'Or lakes area.
My grandmother, had 2 sister Anna Beaton Murphy and one named Lilia
Beaton and a brother James Beaton. Her mother's name was
Mother's name was Catherine. She also had 2 other brothers that were
lost at sea. I don't know their names.
Unfortunately that's all I have managed to pull up from records in
the family bible and my recollections of what my father and aunt told me.
Both are dead now.
If anyone, is related, or has information on my Great Grandparents, or
other relatives in Nova Scotia, I'd love to here from you.

Marion Bridge in their tree. This couple and their seven children (Ann,
Kate, Effie, Rory, Malcolm, William and Mary Ann) are listed on the 1881
census. They are in house 185 while next door at 186 is Peggy and Neil
MATHESON. Next door to them are John E MORRISON and Catherine MORRISON.
Catherine was my great-great grandmother. Peggy was her daughter from her
first marriage to Neil LAMOND and John a son from her second marriage to
Kenneth MORRISON. What I am trying to ascertain is if the John MORRISON
living on the other side of Peggy is possibly her uncle John and brother
to my great-great grandmother Catherine. His listed year of birth on the
census certainly would fit. Hope this looks familiar to someone!
