Qrytext: Having quite a difficult time with the
"mishmash" of names being changed etc.
Grandfather was Hugh (Bush) Bushor b) 1913 married Jessie Kernick b) 1914
in Sydney Mines,Cape Breton.(Rumour has it that someone in Hugh's family
changed the name from Bouchard or Boucher to Bushor because everyone had
such a difficult time trying to spell it and pronounce it).
Hugh's father was Samuel Bushor b) July 19, 1894 d) April 10, 1952
Jessie's father was Jack (John) Kernick b) 1894? who married Mary Burton
b) 1894?
Samuel Bushor b) July 19, 1894 married March 10, 1913 to Margaret
MacGillivray b) Sept 3, 1895, d) Sept 11, 1957. Margaret was
born/baptised at New Glasgow, Saint John The Baptist Parish (I have birth
certificate). Margarets parents were John MacGillivray b) 1878? and
Catherine MacKinnon b) 1878?. Margaret's Godparents were Mr & Mrs
John Dunn.
Samuel's parents are listed as Joseph Bushor? b) about 1878? and Eliza
Jessome b) about 1878?
Joseph & Eliza had the following children (children's names appear on
the list from Immaculate Conception Parish as well - I am typing this
EXACTLY as it is written on the document I have from the Parish):
Catherine Bushor b) Feb 9, 1896
Rachel Bushor b) Oct 11, 1898 (Leo & Charlotte Jessome were
Godparents)
Mary Alice Bushor b) April 22, 1900
Isaac Seward (Sevard?) Bushor b) July 9, 1901
Henrietta Bouchard b) August 2, 1902
Mary Magdalene Bouchard b) November 7, 1903
Beside the names of Henrietta & Mary Magdalene, parents names are
actually written as Joseph Bouchard & Eliza Jessome. The other
children had just the names Joseph B. & Eliza B. written next to
them.
A gravestone at St. Joseph's Cemetery (Little Bras d'Or) reads exactly as
follows (re: the above children):
Joseph & Elizabeth Bushor (beloved mother & father)
Side #1 of headstone: Patrick F. Bushor d) Oct 18, 1912 age 20, beloved
son of Joseph & Elizabeth
Side #2 of headstone:
John Joseph born August 31, 1893 died August 31, 1893
Catherine died 1896
Eathe May died October 20, 1897 age 4 months
Rachel died April 3, 1900 age 1 year 7 months
Mary Alice died July 17, 1900 age 3 months
Isaac Seward died August 18, 1901 age 1 month, 6 days
Henry-etta died August 17, 1902 age 2 weeks
I also have a document that reads exactly as follows:
Date & place of marriage: Sydney Mines, July 23, 1874
How married; by license or banns} by Siansr (?)
Full name of groom: Samuel Bashore (that's how it looks!)
His age: 24 years
Condition: bachelor
Profession/trade: Miner
Residence: Sydney Mines
Where born: Bras d'Or
Parent's names: Morris & Rachel
Their profession: Miner
Full name of bride: Annie Edwards
Age: 26 years
Condition: Spinster
Her place of residence: Sydney Mines
Parents names: Alexander & Mary Ann
Their profession: Carpenter
Witnesses names: Joseph Boultrore? (last name is very difficult to read,
first part of name is correct Boult)
Signature of parties married: Samuel Bushare? Bushard? Bushore? (again,
difficult to read, first part of name is correct Bush)
Officiating clergyman: W H Jameson
Denomination of Clergyman: Church of England
Also on the document from Immaculate Conception Parish (top of the list!)
is the name Maurice Bouchard b) September 25, 1887. His parents are
listed as Maurice B. & Mary MacMullin. Reverend C F MacKinnon
baptized all of the above. Whew! If anyone can please help me in any
way at all I would be eternally greatful. If I can be of help to anyone
it would be my pleasure to do so. My e-mail is: bambibushor@aol.com God

Michael ROSS, born? died? buried in Inverness Nova Scotia beside his
wife. He married Catherina ROACH, when? Their children could have been
Evelyn ROSS, born ?, Carolyn ROSS, born ?, Mitchell ROSS, born ? and, my
grandfather, Alexander Mitchell Ross, born June 25, 1910, in Inverness
Nova Scotia. Alexander married Mary Margueite CARON, on November 08,
1941, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
The story that was told by my grand father was as follows, the family was
from another country, possibly Polland, or Scotland, we were never told
for sure. They came to America between 1910 and 1915 to get away from
the war. They landed in one of two spots, either New York, USA or
Inverness Nova Scotia, Canada. From there they went to North Dakota
where, we aren't sure but I think that Michael's parents, who could have
been traveling with them, remained behind in North Dakota, as the rest of
the family went on to North Battleford Saskatchwan.
The family were home steading NORTH of North Battleford. And they had
horses and cattle on their property.
Grandpa Ross was around the age of 7 when he lived in North Battleford.
He left home at the age of 15 or 16 never to return or talk to his family
again. He travelled all over North Amercia, and he even faught in the
Spanish Civil War.
Any information in locating this family would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and help.
Carol

Jim"Neil Long" who lived on the "Irish Farm" in
Brookvillage, Inverness county.
His brother John lived on the "Peter Dwyer" farm. I was looking
up some
researching material and noticed a genealogy resorce for the Mabou area
having a
home address as the "MacFarlane Farm". Would these
"farms" still be in existance today?
The 1901 cesus for Glencoe has the MacNeil's, Neil, John, Ronald, Mary
L., and and adopted daughter
Mary B.Whitehead.Would I be able to use these "farm" references
when asking for info from the "Bridge"
or the Beaton Center?
Any clues greatly appreciated. Neil Sutherland Calgary, Alberta.
