John James MacLEOD was born at Dominion No. 6, Cape Breton County, about 1878, and died at Camp Hill Hospital, Halifax, on Dec. 25, 1949, and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. He married, on Oct. 8, 1903, Mary Belle MacPHERSON, born at Leitches Creek about 1884, and died sometime after 1949, daughter of Neil and Elizabeth (_____) MacPherson. John was a coal miner at the Caledonia Mine. He also served in the 94th Battalion in World War I, later transferring to the 6th Battalion, Canadian Guards. He had musical talents, and often entertained at social gatherings. As far as I know they had six children: John MacLeod, maried Flora Horton, worked in the office of Dominion Coal Co.; William MacLeod, lived on Lake Road, Glace Bay; Catherine MacLeod, married a Mr. MacWilliams and is said to have lived in the Boston, Mass., area; Elizabeth MacLeod, married Kenneth Pringle of Roberta, Richmond County; Margaret MacLeod, married Douglas MacDonald and had a son, Douglas James MacDonald; and Clarkie MacLeod, a little girl, who was born in May, 1915, and died Feb. 9, 1919 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay. I would like to find out what became of Mary Belle (MacPherson) MacLeod, and whether there were any other children. I also hope to trace the descendants of all the children down to the present day. Does anyone recognize any of these names? Any assistance greatly appreciated.
