PHILLIPS, WAIT posted by Sam Wait on Sunday, February 20, 2000

I am looking for a Robert Phillips married to a ______Mills. If family oral history is correct he would have been in Laprairie in the 1820's and later. According to family lore, Robert Phillips was a tailor by trade who owned a hotel, a brewery and several farms. He had a daughter Jane who married James Wait, my gg grandfather. Jane was supposedly born in Londonderry around 1821 and James was born in North Berwick, Scotland in 1816. Eliza Phillips was supposedly born in Canada around 1828. So far I have been focusing on LaPrairie, Quebec, but just became aware of LaPrairie, Nova Scota. Was there a settlement there in the 1820 time period? Thanks for any information. Sam Wait .
