I am in Manchester, UK researching my family tree. I recently found out that a distant relative of mine in England had the marriage certificate of my great grandparents, Emma Louisa Harris and George Harry Erswell. The parents of Emma Louisa are listed as Abraham Harris and Ann Harris (the maiden name is not mentioned). It is recorded that Emma Louisa was then aged 21 and born in Cape Breton. Abraham's occupation was recorded as "fisherman", presumeably of Cape Breton also. The date of the marriage was 28th Nov 1978 in a Methodist church, 71 Granville Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia. I would be grateful for any other information relating to the parents of Abraham Harris.

Peter Stubbart married Mary Ann Gordon on Dec. 16, 1879, by license, at Sydney Mines Presbyterian Church. I am looking for the marriage records of Mary Ann's parents in hopes to get William Gordon's parents names. William Gordon and Ann Merritt may have been married in the same church but I somehow think that they were married in the Baptist Church. It would be some time between 1854-1860. Could someone help me by giving me direction as to whether church records are available, and where or by searching the church records? Thanks so much, it's difficult from across the country. Don
