KEITH posted by Geneva Keith Ulm on Thursday, October 2, 1997

To repeat...my great-great grandparents were Margaret NESS and John KEITH. They settled in the Mull River area of Mabou. They had 13 children together..their youngest was David KEITH born May 27, 1847 in Mull River. This is my great-grandfather.The daughters married into the Fraser, Hawley, Smith and Buck families of the area. I am interested in the families of this area and their stories. My g-g grandmother was rumored to have walked ashore after a ship wreck off the coast, she was a widow when she married John. John was born in Scotland as was Margaret. John had a brother named James and a grandmother named Sarah(Sally.) I do not know where in Scotland either of them were born. Are there other Keiths that can link up to this Cape Breton family? I have lots of information to share. Thanks.

My great-grandfather Dennis CADEGAN (CADOGAN), came frrom Ireland, possibly through England, to Cape Breton, (Glace Bay or Bridgeport). He married Bridget ROACH, who was born in Canada. Their son, Edward CADEGAN, my grandfather, was born August 15, 1860. He left Canada and moved to Steubenville, Ohio around 1880, and married Catherine MCLAUGHLIN in 1882. I am trying to ffind where in Ireland did Dennis come from the year he came over to Canada the year he married Bridget and if there were any other children from the marriage. I have no info on Bridget ROACH, except that she was born in Canada. If anyone has info concerning the names of CADEGAN and ROACH, I would appreciate hearing from them. Thank you. Noreen Rose

Charles moved to Amherst, N.S. circa 1813 where he married Hannah Freeman, dau. of William and Jerusha (Yoemans) Freeman. In Oct. 1818 Charles, wife and 3 children moved to Burlington, Ont., Canada area. One of Charles' sons, Joshua Freeman Cameron, shows up in the state of Missouri circa 1841. GRAHAM posted by Elaine Paine on Wednesday, October 29, 1997

Recently found a memoir written in 1923 by a 93 year old man who stated that his family came originally in the 1770's from Scotland, and went to Cape Breton Island. They were said to live in a town called Catelone on the shores of Mira Bay. My atlas doesn't show this town...does it now or did it once exist? The Grahams then were supposed to have gone to North Carolina in the 1770's where many Scots had emigrated. I would appreciate any information about Grahams in Nova Scotia. Thank you.
