PARKINSON posted by John Hugh Glen on Monday, September 1, 1997

I am desperately seeking information about 3 of my ancestors, the first is the birth of Thomas Parkinson 2nd of October 1908, family information says he was born in Glace Bay, and baptised at either St. Annes or St. Mary's church, he was the son of William Henry Parkinson & Harriet Embley.
The second is of William Henry Parkinson who died on the 1st of July 1916 on the Somme, family information states he was a Canadian Soldier and that his widow Harriet Parkinson recieved a Canadian war pension (is it possible to prove this)? Family information also states that he was born about 1886 in Melbourne, near Halifax, the son of William Henry Parkinson and Mary Ellen Chadwick, can this be proved?
The third is of Thomas Parkinson, son of William Henry Parkinson & Mary Ellen Chadwick. According to a monumental inscription Thomas died in Canada on the 15th November/1903, probably in Nova Scotia, possible towns are Moosejaw, Glace Bay or Melbourne, would there be records of his death?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. John Hugh Glen.

BROWN, MORLEY posted by Janice Fralic-Brown on Thursday, September 4, 1997

BROWN, Joseph Kendrick, b. ca 1846, Sydney NS. Parents listed on his marriage license (1872 to Lucy Elizabeth Hardy)are William and Ruth Brown. In 1871 census of Sydney, Joseph is listed as living with a William Brown, African descent, C.of E. and Ruth Brown, English descent, C. of E. All other children are of African descent, but Joseph is of Scottish descent and Methodist. He is also older than other children but at the bottom of the list. From another source, I know he was born before William and Ruth (Morley) were married. I want to find out Joseph's true parentage. As an aside, his wife's grandmother (Lucy Morley) and his mother were apparently sisters.

MCKENZIE, URQUHART posted by karl kincade on Thursday, September 4, 1997

John McKenzie 1805 married Christina Smith 1811 about 1831 in Scotland. Children Margaret 1833 and Alexander 1837 were born in Scotland. John 1838, Anne 1840, Christina 1843, Daniel 1844, and Dalena 1848 were born on Cape Breton - perhaps Richmond County. Barbara 1851, Johanna 1853, and Angus were probably born in McKillop township, Huron County, Ontario. The family moved to St Clair County, MI about 1865. Margaret McKenzie married Roderick Urquhart, born Scotland 1828, about 1855.

MACDONALD, MANUEL posted by Ron Arnold on Thursday, September 25, 1997

I am searching for ancestors of James Manuel (1875-1950) and his wife Mary Ann MacDonald (1870?-1953). James Manuel may have come from either Catalina, Newfoundland or somewhere in England. Mary Ann MacDonald may have been the daughter of a Donald MacDonald. She was born on a farm a short way east of Baddeck on the peninsula known as Red Head in a locale called Long Hill. They lived on the farm earlier than 1899 until their deaths. Both are buried in "Highland Cemetery" on an unpaved road near the farm The farm is now owned by a mining company working a gypsum deposit. Am particularly interested in tracing the MacDonald line back to Scotland.
