MCCLELLAN posted by Loretta Boyer McClellan on Friday, August 1, 1997

I am searching for any information on the McCLELLAN family (and variant spellings) that came to Nova Scotia from Scotland and then moved to South Carolina, U.S. The ancestor that we know of was Hugh McCLELLAN, born about 1780 in York, South Carolina, U.S. His son was James McCLELLAN, born 8 Aug 1804 in York, South Carolina, U.S. died in Payson, Utah, U.S. I have heard from other researchers that many McCLELLANs came from Scotland to Nova Scotia prior to settling in the U.S. Any information on McCLELLANs(or other surname spelling variants)in Nova Scotia prior to 1780 would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
