Seeking any information on Alexander Handspiker, born in 1885, in Cape Breton.. possibly the son of Edward and Flora (Flora also b. Cape Breton, Edward b. Digby) I have funeral records on Alexander, who died at age 20, in Truro, Colchester Co. Am trying to tie this family into the Handspikers of Digby, as Edward has several possible identities. It seems this family may have only been in Cape Breton for a short time, possibly from when Edward arrived there, and married Flora, and then moved on to Colchester Co. Would anyone with any info on this branch of my "tree" please contact me, and aim me in the right direction? I have tons of info on the Digby families, all the way back to the earlier family members in Bergen County, New Jersey, in mid 1700s. Thanks in advance for any help. Jed

My great-uncle, Thomas Eddy and my great-grandfather, Walter Eddy came through Cape Breton in around 19040r 05. My great- grandmother Eleanor Jane came through in 1905. Eleanor Jane had three children with her and was looking for her husband Walter. He was suppose to send for her in SpennyMoore, England and never did. She and the children lived there for a year. If anyone can tell me a way to find out exactly where they were or the ship they arrived on it would be helpful. Thomas gave Cape Breton as his last foriegn address when he was natualized in the US. This is why I believe they must have lived here for that year.

My grandparents emigrated from Wales? sometime around 1915 to Cape Breton and all but one of their children were born and raised in that area. I am looking for information on my maternal grandfather's family. His siblings were Duncan MacKenzie (b. June 12, 1890,) Norman MacKenzie (b. Jan 24, 1892,) Dan Alick MacKenzie (b. Aug 14, 1893,) Eliga MacKenzie (b. Aug 20, 1895- d. ? 1899,) Mabel MacKenzie (b. Jan 10, 1899,) Dollie MacKenzie (b. Aug 1, 1900,) and lastly my grandfather, David (b. Feb. 18, 1902.) Their parents were John Kenith and Elizabeth? MacDonald. My great-grandmother died when Grandpa was very young. Great-grandpa remarried either a Jeanie, or Peggy MacDonald, I don't know if she was related to his former wife. My grandfather married Effie MacLeod (b. October 23 in either 1899, or 1898) who was also from the Sydney Mines area. I don't have much information on her family as she died when I was just a teenager and not smart enough to ask about anything important. She had a brother Norman MacLeod and her sister Bessie married a Rudolph Klostermeier. If anyone recognizes any of this I would be greatful for any information they could give me.

Searching for Mary Jane FAIRWEATHER, born 1826, Dundee, Scotland. Survived a shipweck en route to Canada off the Northern Cape Bretan coast. That ship may have been the barque "Isabella" in 1842. She married Elbridge Foster in 1851 at Scugog Island Ontario. They had 11 children, including a set of twins and a set of triplets.
I believe her father was John FAIRWEATHER and was in Ontario when she came over.
Any leads would be mightily welcome. Christina COCHRAN Carvajal
